“From Seed to Soul.”

June 12 to July 7, 2008

“From Seed to Soul” is Ellin Pollachek’s interpretation of a moment in the life of a flower.  With the exception of the Calla Lily, all of the flowers which are in the show can be found in the gardens around Ellin's Catskill home. Pollachek states the “seeking out moments in time, her images capture a lily's fallen petal, the beginning of the end of a tulip, a violet bud and the eroticism of an iris in full bloom. Like the summer sky, the flowers of summer are saturated with texture, color and sensuality. And like summer which fades into the stark, minimalism of winter, flowers also fade and die. And then they return.”

According to Pollachek the images in this show are a thank-you note of sorts to the flowers which enrich her creativity and bring joy to her soul. The images are archival pigment prints in editions of 10.

Pollachek's photographs have appeared on the pages of Soma (Indian), Avenue, India Today, Travel/Holiday, Modern Bride, The Robb Report. Inside Out (Australian) and others.  Pollachek's photography has been displayed by Air India, the Indian Consulate in Rockefeller Center, The Creative Center in Manhattan and Deborah Davis Fine Art in Hudson, New York.
Pollachek resides in Manhattan and Catskill and has studied photography at the International Center of Photography (ICP), New School for Social Research and the Maine Photographic Workshops. She has a PhD. in Transgressive Literature and Photography from New York University.
